Local Involvement Networks (LINks)
What is LINks?
Health and social care services will only get better if we listen and respond to the needs of the people who use them. In recognition of this the Government plans to introduce new networks called Local Involvement Networks (LINks) to help strengthen the system that enables communities to shape the care they receive. The LINKs will not take over from the network of groups across Hampshire who already support the involvement of carers, social care users and the public in local social care services, but enhance their ability to have their voices heard. Neither will LINKs replace the overview and scrutiny function of the local authorities or the role of elected councillors.
LINks will provide everyone in the community, including individuals and voluntary groups, with a more effective chance to say what they think about local health and social care services. They will give local people an enhanced opportunity to influence how services are planned and run; and provide feedback to services about what’s working and what’s not.
Government has given local authorities the responsibility for setting up the new networks. Hampshire County Council is working with local communities and organisations in the public and voluntary sectors, to get ready for LINks
