Outcomes from the Consultation

Hampshire Health and Wellbeing Partnership Board ran a three month consultation to develop their first Health and Wellbeing Partnership Strategy – Healthier Hampshire.

The Strategy was developed through an inclusive process. The aim was to create a Strategy that is a partnership document which has been developed through the collaborative efforts of all partners. It concentrates on key actions needed to enable sustained improvements. It  focus' on specific areas for action where two or more partners came together to better use joint resources  to make a difference to the quality of life and health outcomes of local people.

Over the three month consultation period there was a series of workshops and presentations to encourage the people of Hampshire to help focus the Strategy. As a starting point a consultation document was prepared that highlights proposed areas for focus which are:

  • increased opportunities for more people to take greater responsibility for their own lifestyles by promoting healthy living
  • ensuring that all sections of the community experience better health
  • better coordinated support for people at risk of needing hospital care or entering an institution
  • enabling people to make informed choices in order to live as active and independent lives as possible
  • maximising the opportunities and meeting the challenges of an ageing population
  • building strong, supportive communities

Along with the following strategic outcomes:

  • improved physical and mental wellbeing
  • increased healthy life expectancy
  • reduced health inequalities
  • earlier identification of people at risk
  • more support to enable people to live independently and make informed choices about their own health and well being
  • communities are better organised to support one another

In order to get as many people involved in developing the Strategy organisations and individuals were invited to take part.
