Food and Friendship Volunteer service

Food and friendship logo

Food and Friendship is a new free of charge service available to Meals on Wheels customers who would like a regular visit from a friendly volunteer around mealtimes. The service is currently available in the following districts which have kindly contributed funding to the scheme:

  • Basingstoke and Deane
  • East Hampshire
  • Eastleigh
  • Fareham
  • Gosport
  • Havant
  • Hart
  • Rushmoor
  • Test Valley
  • Winchester

Food and Friendship is coordinated by Age Concern Hampshire who are working with other local voluntary organisations.

The volunteers visit you at home to make your lunchtimes more enjoyable and spend some time chatting about things that interest you and about what's going on in your local community. You can choose the number and frequency of visits and make a time suitable to you, for example a visit once or twice a week, or once a month. The visit lasts at least 30 minutes.
