Often when people experience a change in their sight they find it helpful to make changes to their working environment and have a clear understanding about what they are entitled to, to make their work life easier.

A range of programmes and support is available for visually impaired people seeking new employment, including confidence building, CV writing, interview techniques, work placements and training in specialist magnification/speech computer software.

If you are visually impaired and experiencing any difficulties around employment then there are specialist Employment Advisors who can offer you free and confidential advice and support on your rights, specialist equipment and schemes such as Access to work

Action for Blind People

Action for Blind People are a national organisation whose Employment Advisors provide a range of support and advice to people who are seeking or currently in work.

Job Centre Plus

Support and advice for people seeking work or who are concerned about maintaining their employment is also available through the Disability Employment Advisors at the Job Centre Plus
