This contact with police colleagues must be before any other actions are taken, such as engaging an interpreter. It may well be that a police interpreter is the safest option.

It is imperative that if you become aware of an issue of forced marriage or a proposed forced marriage that this is reported to the police at the earliest opportunity. The issues are that women are being kidnapped, often taken out of the country, and held against their will to compel them to marry. This also often leads to serious violence or threats of violence and sometimes even murder.
