What happens next?

After abuse has been reported to Hampshire County Council, the following will happen:

Within 24 hours

• Assess the seriousness of situation, appropriate level of intervention, and level of risk and action needed to ensure safety.
• Identify worker to undertake enquiry/liaison.
• If a serious/high risk situation, undertake strategy discussions with Police, CQC and other agencies and teams.
• Acknowledge the referral in writing.
• Record actions and decisions taken.

Within 7 days

• Convene a multi-agency Strategy Planning Meeting to be chaired by Adult Services. The meeting will consider the following:
  • review risk status and safety issues.
  • consider consent and capacity issues.
  • consider legal powers potentially available to protect the alleged victim.
  • agree an action plan identifying what will be investigated and by whom.
• Record actions and decisions taken.

Within 21 days

• Convene a case conference to be chaired by Adult Services.
• Review information gathered, risk status and safety issues.
• Agree and record a Protection Plan stating who will do what, timescales and monitoring and review arrangements.
• Record actions and decisions taken.
