Extra Care housing for building developers, providers and partners
The County Council is looking to stimulate the development of alternative accommodation and care services for vulnerable older people so that they can remain active and as independent as possible, for as long as possible.
The establishment of Extra Care schemes, accessible to older people across the whole of the county is a key aspect of our commitment of maintaining vibrant local neighbourhoods. In some locations we anticipate that the Extra Care scheme will become the hub of the community, providing a focus for activity for reaching out beyond those who will live within it.
To meet the growing levels of demand Hampshire County Council has approved a strategy which makes available £45 million of capital funding to support this multi million pound programme.
To deliver the strategic aim of having Extra Care as a viable choice for older people by 2019, Hampshire County Council has agreed to establish a capital fund to facilitate the development of the ‘social housing’ element of these schemes.
