BBC Panorama programme: Undercover - Elderly CareYou may have seen the programme run by the BBC on Monday 23rd April, showing the abuse of an elderly lady by staff in a care home in London. It was shocking and upsetting to see someone so vulnerable being treated in this way and good to know that the main perpetrator was given a jail sentence and other people involved lost their jobs and would be unable to work with elderly people again. Hampshire County Council have adult protection procedures in place and we work with all of our partner agencies, such as the health service and the police and will respond to any concerns highlighted to us. We also work with care homes across our area and can provide support - such as training for their staff - if there are issues identified about the quality of care. If you are concerned about someone or suspect abuse, please use the contact numbers below and talk to someone about this. |
