WRAP training
Staff, service users and organisations who support people who access services from Hampshire Adult Services can be trained to support others in completing a WRAP.
If you are a service user, we request that you have completed your own Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) prior to coming on the WRAP facilitator training.
Style of training
Mary Ellen Copeland advocates in her work that to truly understand the concept of WRAP and be equipped to introduce it to service users' WRAP facilitators should write their own plans. The training supports this encourages participants to relate to their own experiences. So part of the learning will be to write your own plan (though you will only be asked to share what you are comfortable with you will be asked to start to write your own plan.
All training courses are open to both staff and service users as we believe this joint approach to training enhances learning.
Introduction to WRAP
This introductory session gives people a general introduction to WRAP. The session is short, usually about 1 hour, and will give participants an understanding of the underpinning philosophy and different sections in a WRAP. There will not be an opportunity to explore sections in depth and it is not aimed at equipping participants with the skills to support service users in developing a plan but it will equip participants with knowledge to introduce the concept to other people.
Please contact the Project coordinator caroline.munro@hants.gov.uk if you would like someone to come and talk to your team
WRAP facilitator training
There are regular FREE training courses delivered throughout the year that will offer more in depth knowledge of WRAP. This training is delivered over 3 sessions and will equip participants with the skills, knowledge and confidence to support service users develop and get the best our of a WRAP. The training is delivered over several sessions to allow time for reflection and participants will develop their own WRAP during the sessions. A facilitator’s pack with resources will be distributed to all new WRAP facilitators.
As service user involvement is core to the philosophy of WRAP, all training is co facilitated by a service user.
