Counselling

At some time in our lives, most of us will experience times where we feel unable to cope. Often talking to someone who is trained and experienced in counselling can help us get through this difficult time.

We do not directly provide counselling services but can provide information about organisations that do.

However you may wish to contact

  • Citizen’s Advice Bureau - who will be able to provide you with a list of organisations who offer counselling services
  • The e.VOLve website - which also provides a list of counsellors
  • The Counselling Directory -  a support network of UK counsellors and psychotherapists, with information on their training and experience, areas of counselling, fees and contact details.

Counselling is available in certain circumstances through the NHS, and you would need to contact your GP if you wish to explore this further.

When choosing a counsellor it is important to check that they are a registered member of a professional body and work to an established code of practice. Currently there are no national standards for counselling and psychotherapy.
