support and advice for Armed Forces personnel and veterans

Policy and information

The Armed Forces Community Welfare Pathway underpins the commitments set out in the Service Personnel Command paper

The Welfare Pathway will:

  • provide improved information for individuals on the availability of support services within and beyond the County Council
  • improve partnership working to fill existing gaps in provision and overlaps between the County Council, Armed Forces, Health and other support services
  • enhance the training available to service leavers
  • ensure people leaving the Armed Forces are better equipped to deal  with civilian life particularly those suffering from physical or psychological injuries
  • engage with groups such as the Nepalese community in Hampshire and others

The aims of the Community Covenant include:

  • encouraging local communities to support the Armed Forces Community in their areas, and vice versa
  • promoting understanding and awareness amongst the public of issues affecting the Armed Forces Community
  • recognising and remember the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces Community; and
  • encouraging activities which help to integrate the Armed Forces Community into local life
