Village Agents appointed for Odiham and North Warnborough

August 6th, 2012

Hampshire County Council, in conjunction with Age Concern Hampshire, have recently launched a new scheme offering help to people in Odiham and North Warnborough to access services, information or advice.  The Village Agent Programme is a 15-month pilot programme to bridge the gap between communities and organisations designed to help mature and vulnerable residents who may not be comfortable with the Internet or multiple phone calls to strangers and would just like to speak to someone local!

Village Agents are well trained volunteers who can provide high quality information and will put older people in direct contact with local service providers, agencies and organisations which can offer help and advice. By providing access to the right information at the right time Village Agents will assist older and vulnerable people to live independently in their homes and communities for as long as possible. Matters such as transport for shopping or medical appointments, claiming benefits, finding a trusted tradesperson, arranging a Home Fire Safety visit, computer training, garden help or residential and care home options can all be discussed in confidence.

The newly-appointed Village Agents for Odiham and NorthWarnborough are Sarah Voysey and Valerie Cloke. They can be contacted during the week on 07543 294703; if unavailable, please leave a message and they will call back and help get the right information as quickly as possible to those who need it.
