Relief Cook Padwell Road Day Care Centre, Southampton

As required Scale 1 Pt 7. (£6.69 per hour)

Main duties involve: planning, preparation and cooking of meals, snacks and refreshments for the Day Care Centre and the day-to-day supervision of any volunteer helpers within the Kitchen. Suitable candidate should possess a current Basic Food Hygiene certificate, and ideally City and Guilds 706 1/2 or relevant NVQ eg Food Preparation. Knowledge of how to support a healthy balanced diet, and awareness of how to meet specific dietary requirements is essential.

Assistant Manager  Alton Day Care Centre

Mondays and Wednesdays,12 hours per week 9.30am to 3.30pm

4,926 - £5,512 per annum Linked to full time salary £15,189 - £16,998

Required to assist the Day Care Centre Manager in maintaining the smooth and effective running of a Day Care Centre for physically or mentally frail older Service Users, and deputise for the Manager in his/her absence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and managing a stimulating activity programme, in conjunction with other staff, for both group and person centred approaches.

  • Ensure Service Users receive suitable care, meals and refreshments.

  • Building relationships with the Service Users.

Assisting with planning, monitoring and review of care plans in accordance with Age Concern Hampshire policies and contractual specifications, including liaison with colleagues in other agencies as required.

Applicants should be qualified to Health & Social Care Level 2, or equivalent. In addition the following is required:

Experience of caring for older people or people with disabilities.

  • Understanding of the needs of older people.

  • Experience within a statutory or voluntary care setting.

Support Worker/Passenger Assistant   Alton Day Care Centre

7 hours per week Monday

£2,352 -£2,815 per annum Linked to full time salary £12,435 - £14,880

To provide care and stimulation to the physically and mentally frail older Service Users attending the Day Care Centre and assistance on transport.

Relief Minibus Drivers, Relief Support Workers/Passenger Assistants at our Day Care Centres/Wellbeing Centres across Hampshire.

Applicants can specify locations where they would be willing to travel to, see locations further below. You can apply to undertake driving, passenger assistant and/or support work.

Excellent training provided.

Hourly rate £6.38 - £6.64 per hour

Hours:Variable, to cover for staff when away from the centre due to attending training, on annual leave, sickness absence, etc. Passenger Assistants/Drivers may start at 8.30 am/9.00 am, and are required at the start and end of the day, with return journeys tending to finish about 4.30 pm. As a guide Support Workers may start at 10.00 am, and may finish 3.00, 3.30, 4.00 pm, or occasionally later.

If you are working at a location more than 5 miles from your home, we contribute towards your travel expenses.

  • Collect and return local older people attending a Wellbeing/Day Care Centre at a given location and assist them in entering and vacating the minibus. It is essential that the needs of the older person are fully met at this time

  • Ensure the safety of the members while they are in the minibus

You are accompanied by a Passenger Assistant on the journeys.

Applicants should have a driving licence including D1 specification, or Passenger Carrying Vehicle licence.

As a Support Worker/Passenger Assistant you would                                     job description

provide care and stimulation to the physically and mentally frail older Service Users attending the Day Care/Wellbeing Centre.

Your duties will include

  • ·Assisting in the running of the activity programme and person centred activities when directed, including running small groups and individual activities

  • Attending to the personal needs of Service Users (including those in wheelchairs), specifically to help in bathing (at designated centres) and toileting, particularly those Service Users who may be incontinent and/or physically frail

  • Enabling Service Users to mobilise within the Day Care Centre accessing all facilities

  • Assisting Service Users with meals, kitchen duties, cleaning tables, transport of meals and beverages to dining areas as required

If also undertaking Passenger Assistant duties at the start and end of the day you would

  • Support Service Users to and from the Day Care Centre

  • Assist them in entering and vacating the minibus. It is essential that the needs of the Service Users are fully met at this time

  • Ensure the safety and well being of the Service Users while they are in the minibus

Previous experience is desirable. Enhanced DBS (CRB) Certificate will be required. Our Centres work with vulnerable older people with physical and/or mental health needs.

Our Wellbeing/Day Care Centre locations are: Alresford, Alton, Bordon, Aldershot, Odiham, Gosport, Fareham, Titchfield Common, Havant, Swanmore, Fordingbridge, New Milton, Dibden, Ringwood and Southampton.
