Born 28 January 1869, Campbell was commissioned into 9th Lancers in March 1889. He was Commander of 6th Cavalry Brigade, British Expeditionary Force between November 1914 and May 1916. He was also Divisional Commander of 21st and 33rd Division between May 1916 and September 1919.
