Opportunities for volunteers

We benefit greatly from work undertaken by our volunteers, which includes

• detailed cataloguing of documents and archive film material
• helping with dispatching mailings to our support organisation, Hampshire Archives Trust
• representing the service at events such as local and family history fairs
• Participating in the Living Links project, building links with archive-collecting groups in the towns and villages of Hampshire.

Although there is currently a waiting list for most of our volunteer projects, we welcome contact from those wishing to participate in the future. We offer a year's free membership of Hampshire Archives Trust to those who register for our volunteers scheme.

For those wishing to explore the possibility of a career in archives, we offer job-tasting days, usually for a group of two to four people; please contact us or telephone 01962 846154 and ask for our volunteer co-ordinator.
