Copying services

All orders for copies must be accompanied by the relevant form, completed and signed. Prices and payment instructions are on the forms.

Standard copies

For copies of parish register and newspaper entries, wills and most unbound documents
NB: We do not photocopy some documents because of the risk of damage. These include: pages from volumes (except modern, printed books); rolled items, large maps, tithe apportionments and documents with hanging seals. For these documents, we offer a digital photography service.

Digital photography

For high quality copies, copies from books, rolls, maps etc., and digital images from the online catalogue. Visitors to our search room may use either our digital photography service or their own hand-held cameras on payment of a £10 session/day fee. NB: some copying restrictions still apply.

Microform

For large amounts of material, e.g. a volume of several hundred pages, we can provide copies on microfilm or fiche. Please use our enquiry service to discuss your requirements.

Certified copies

If you require a copy of a document held at Hampshire Record Office for legal purposes, we can provide certified copies or transcriptions.

Baptisms and marriages using official pro-formas
The first step is to contact us. We will check that we hold the register and that it contains the entry required. There is a fee of £9 for a baptism certificate and £7 for a marriage certificate. Please note: pre-September 1837 marriages and Non-Conformist baptisms cannot be certified in this way.

Certified photocopies
Where a document can be photocopied we can provide a certified photocopy. A fee of £10 is charged.

Certified transcripts
For entries from vehicle licence registers or other registers, we provide a certified transcript. A fee of £10 is charged

Certified digital photographs
As an alternative to certified transcripts we can provide a certified digital photograph. A fee of £6 is charged for certification plus the cost of digital photography.
