Copying services

Copies are available either in person or by post. We advise that you check our online catalogue to check whether we have what you are looking for. You will need to complete the relevant form.

Documents

Most documents can be copied. We cannot photocopy items where there is a risk of damage, such as manuscript volumes; rolled items; large maps; documents with hanging seals; tithe apportionments; large printed books and books printed before 1900. In these cases we offer a digital photography service.

Photographs

High quality reproductions of photographs currently viewable through our online catalogue are also available for purchase

Microfiche

Microfiche copies of most Hampshire parish registers can be purchased for your personal use. Before you place your order please use our enquiry service to request a breakdown of the fiche available for the parish(es) you are interested in.

Certified copies

If you require a copy of a document held at Hampshire Record Office for legal purposes, we can provide certified copies or transcriptions.

Baptisms and marriages using official pro-formas
Check that we hold the original register and that it contains the required baptism or marriage. A fee of £9 is charged for each certified copy. Where a certified copy of a marriage certificate is required, a written request is needed, giving details of the person requesting the certificate and their address. NB pre-September 1837 marriages and Non-Conformist baptisms cannot be certified in this way.

Certified photocopies
Where a document can be photocopied we can provide a certified photocopy. A fee of £10 is charged.

Certified transcripts
For entries from vehicle licence registers or other registers, we provide a certified transcript. A fee of £10 is charged

Certified digital photographs
As an alternative to certified transcripts we can provide a certified digital photograph. A fee of £6 is charged for certification plus the cost of digital photography.
