Very few coroners' records survive for Hampshire until the middle of the 20th century. Those researching accidental or unusual deaths in Hampshire will therefore need to use local newspapers where some quite detailed reports can be found.
There are four Coroners serving Hampshire and survivals of their records are
- Central Hampshire from c1940 (1936 for central Winchester)
- North East Hampshire from 1941
- Portsmouth and South East Hampshire from 1953
- Southampton and New Forest from 1936
