Tom Hall at the New Battery Site, The Needles

There is no parking or vehicular access directly at the New Battery site. There is a Car Park in Alum Bay, which is a 20 minute walk uphill to the site. Please note the car park is not managed by the National Trust. Alternatively a Needles Tour Bus leaves from the Alum Bay Car Park.

The nearest ferry access onto the island is via Wightlink, at Yarmouth 5 miles away or Red Funnel at East Cowes, 16 miles away.

Access to the exhibition at the New Battery site is free. Please note access to the Old Battery Site is not included, and is subject to normal National Trust entry charges, There are no toilets at the New Battery site, but there are toilets, and a tea shop open only at weekends during the winter season at the Old Battery site.

By Car from the Cowes-Newport dual carriageway follow the brown heritage signs to Newport Harbour. Pay and display car parking can be found beside Quay Arts and includes some limited disabled parking spaces.

The building has disabled access, including a lift, toilets, café and shop.
