Older People's Area Link (OPAL)
Helping you find local activities and services
OPAL is an exciting new initiative that has been developed as a joint partnership between Hampshire County Council Older People’s Well-Being Team, Age Concern Hampshire and Hampshire Voluntary Care Groups Advisory Service. It is also supported by the National Lottery Big Lottery Well-Being fund.

Who is OPAL and who can they help?
OPAL volunteers are there to help older people who would like to:
* make new friends
* find out about local groups and activities
* try a new hobby
* know what help and services are available in your area

What is OPAL and how do they help?
OPAL can provide you with details of local information and services by phone. If you need more help in working out what you want, there are opal volunteers in your area who can visit you at home.
Example of how OPAL can help:
Mr W was not used to asking for help but was pleasantly surprised by the warm response and useful information he received from the OPAL volunteer.

Where is OPAL operating?
OPAL is a county-wide service (but is not available in Southampton or Portsmouth).
How do I contact OPAL?
If you would like some support and advice or know someone who does, then do contact an OPAL volunteer on the free phone number:
0800 328 7154 and ask for OPAL – they will be happy to help!
