Corporate Biodiversity Programme
Hampshire County Council's vision for biodiversity and our natural environment:
'A rich and diverse natural environment, where wildlife is conserved and the benefits of nature are available to everyone'
The County Council has joined Countdown 2010 - the European pledge to try to halt the loss of biodiversity by 2010. The County Council's biodiversity programme is set out in Conserving Nature for the Community, our Corporate Biodiversity Action Plan.
Japanese take lessons from Hampshire's approach to nature conservation
Japanese conservationists responsible for advising their Government decided to get a first-hand perspective of the County Council's corporate biodiversity programme.

The visitors were shown examples of how we are conserving nature - by protecting areas of international importance for biodiversity; improving access to nature in schools and care homes; and through the management of the County Council's own land.
The County Council is committed to ensuring that biodiversity is intrinsic to sustainable development activity across its services from planning and highways to land management, recreation, education and social care.
