Blue Badge

Parking for disabled people

Blue Badge for use by an Organisation

There are times when an organisation is caring for and transporting a group of people, many of whom have severe walking difficulties. In these cases Hampshire County Council Blue Badge Unit wants to assist them in the good work they are doing by providing them with a Blue Disabled Parking badge, if appropriate.

Organisations wanting to apply for a badge should consider the following when making and application

1. Do the majority of the people in your care have a severe walking difficulty?

2 Do you believe their walking difficulty would qualify them for a badge in their own right?

3. Do the majority of the people in your care fall into any of the following categories:

  • Receiving mobility allowance or the higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance

  • Receiving a Personal Independence Payment (PIP) award that indicates in the ‘moving around’ activity of the mobility component that you cannot walk further than 50 metres?

  • Receiving War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement

  • Severely sight impaired under the National Assistance Act 1948

4. Is it possible that there are enough people in your care who already have a Blue badge of their own, which you could use when they are being transported with the group?

5. How do you manage the use of the Blue Badge(s) by your drivers e.g. do you keep the Badge(s) locked in a safe and sign them out when needed and sign them back in once they have been used?
