Blue Badge Disabled Parking Scheme

National Changes to the Disabled Parking Scheme

The system of issuing the Blue Badges changed on 1st January 2012. The badges will be of a new design and will be produced by a central secure process similar to a driving licence. The eligibility criteria have not changed.

The new Blue badge fee

Please be aware that the fee for a Blue Badge will be £10 from 01 April 2012

Any new applications
  • received by 31 March 2012 will be charged £2
  • received on or after 01 April 2012 will be charged £10
Any existing badges
  • that expire before or on 31 March 2012 will be charged £2
  • that expire on or after 01 April 2012 will be charged £10

Fees for a replacement badge will be £4.60 as of 1 April




If your circumstances have changed since you applied for your badge please let us know by writing to the Blue Badge Unit or by emailing blue.badge@hants.gov.uk.


The scheme allows the holder:

  • use of designated parking spaces
  • in some circumstances parking on single or double yellow lines.
  • free parking at parking meters

The scheme applies to Blue Badge holders as drivers or when being carried as a passenger.
