Finding Funding
Community and voluntary groups are full of good ideas but to make ideas reality usually requires extra funds.
External funding is money awarded from grant giving organisations such as the National Lottery Distributors, Local or National Trusts and Central Government, either directly, or through its many agencies.
Awards are generally made through a process of competitive bidding. Funding is usually for specific projects or work programmes which fit have to the funder's specific criteria if they are to be successful. Successful applications are also able to demonstrate a specific need that will be met by their project.
Funding bodies are generally keen to see evidence of genuine partnership working between the voluntary, community, statutory, and private sectors as appropriate, to ensure the best delivery of a project, as well as to avoid the duplication of work.
If you are a community or voluntary organisation that needs help or advice to find funds for your work your local Council of Voluntary Service will be able to help.
The External Funding Service here in the Economic Development Office works with funders to deliver funding information events in our locality. To find out more please contact Chloe Atkins, External Funding Officer or telephone 01962 846487.
