Business Sectors
South East England is still one of the world’s most prosperous regions, and Hampshire is well placed strategically and geographically to capitalise on this. But this prosperity cannot be taken for granted. Hampshire has internationally competitive strengths in a number of market sectors where there are big global business opportunities. Hampshire County Council is keen to support these sectors in order to enhance economic prosperity in the county and is fully engaged in a number of key sectoral initiatives.
HEP Sector Task Groups
The work of Hampshire Economic Partnership is focused towards the business community through 8 direct trade sector task groups which reflect the needs of business within the area and provide an effective communication mechanism with regional and local government. The task groups are: Building & Construction ; Creative Industries ; Innovation & Enterprise ; Investment Land & Property ; Marine Policy Group; Research & Intelligence ; Rural Economy , and; Transportation & Logistics.
Sector Consortia
Sector Consortia refers to 6 key organisations run by business people in the South East who believe that collaborating with others in their market sector will enable them to win more business and be more profitable. The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) helped set these companies up and continues to invest in them.
Each of the six companies focuses on opportunities in a market sector where South East England has competitive strengths and the global market is expanding. They are:- Aerospace and Defence - Farnborough Aerospace Consortium. ; Marine - Marine South East. ; Construction - South East Centre for the Built Environment. ; Environmental Technologies - Envirobusiness South East. ; Health Technologies - South East Health Technologies Alliance., and; Digital Content - South East Media Network.
