Catering Support

The Catering Support team offer several services to their customers and these are listed below.

Advice and Support

Providing advice and support to schools, Adult Services managers and catering providers on all catering related issues.

Free Meal Budget and Catering Administration

Managing the Primary School Free Meal budget, providing support on catering administration and alerting schools, meal providers and the Education Department on legislative issues relating to free meal eligibility.

Milk Scheme

Managing the Voluntary Milk Scheme on behalf of schools, preparing and authorising claims for Government subsidies for free school milk.

Kitchen Equipment Management

Organising kitchen equipment maintenance; reviewing, repairing and replacing heavy kitchen equipment on behalf of schools and Adult Services units.  We also provide advice and support on kitchen refurbishment and design to help customers not only meet legislative requirements but improve service.

Liaising with County Supplies to draft equipment supply contracts and quality after sales service, and liaise with Property Services on equipment maintenance contracts.

Food Safety and Health and Safety

Arranging Service Level Agreements with regulatory and specialist organisations to ensure the food provided is safe and meets nutritional standards (food testing and dietetic services).

Liaise with Environmental Health Officers on issues identified from inspections and work with Hampshire's Home Liaison EHO Group, on behalf of our customers (ie:  schools, Adult Services) to ensure adherence to food safety legislation.

Represent schools and Adult Services on the County Council's Food Safety Group, advising on catering legislation in relation to schools and Adult Services.

Audit and Monitor Provider Performance

Assessing provider performance (term maintenance contractors, food providers etc) via systematic audits carried out by Catering Support Officers and self assessment monitors.  Issues identified from such audits/monitors are discussed with the relevant parties who work in partnership with schools, Adult Services units and the Catering Support team to rectify the issues.
