Archives education service

Hampshire Record Office in Winchester can provide a wide range of Key Stage 1 - 3 resources for use in schools across the county, including history packs and videos, and photocopies for local studies such as maps, census and trade directories.

Groups of pupils up to a maximum of 24 studying, for example, GCSE history or geography topics can be catered for through hands-on workshops and introductory sessions at the Record Office

Museum education service

The education team support the development of enjoyable learning opportunities, that are inspired, enhanced, or underpinned by an engagement with museum collections and/or the historic/natural environment.

The Museums and Archives Service provides two dedicated centres for learning, SEARCH in Gosport and Milestones in Basingstoke. Complementing this provision is a network of local museums and sites, offering a service drawing on the use of permanent displays, special exhibitions, handling collections and teachers' resources.

Schools library service

Supporting Learning in Schools - Our aim is to enable schools to develop their library resources to support the whole school curriculum and meet the learning needs of the individual.

The service is available to all Hampshire schools that have subscribed to the School Library Service.For more details of your school's entitlement, please see our Service Level Agreement.

Countryside Service

A diverse range of countryside sites offering a wide range of opportunities to enable groups to experience the natural world first hand. Six country parks and many other sites have developed programmes to provide a range of guided and self guided environmental experiences for schools.

Sports

Working with the Education department to provide increased opportunities for young people to participate in a wide range of sports. We work with a number of partners to support schools in making new links with sports clubs and organisations, district councils and other providers.

Major developments to support young people's participation in sport are Specialist Sports Colleges and Schools Sports Partnerships, to improve the quantity and quality of PE and school sport for pupils, and make closer sporting links between schools and support the development of young leaders.

The Arts Service

Providing support for a range of organisations engaged in offering education activities and with close links with schools and colleges, including Winchester Theatre Royal, Haymarket Theatre, Basingstoke, Havant Arts Active and community theatre companies Forest Forge and Proteus.

Our four Arts Centres provide professional performances relevant to schools and programme work into local schools on occasion. The Arts Service is also a partner in a Youth Music Action Zone, Music Fusion which is developing DJ, Music Technology, Early Years and other music projects in Gosport, Fareham and Havant as well as partnering the Music Service to provide workshops in schools delivered by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Hampshire Outdoor Centres Service

Working with the Education Department's Outdoor Education Unit to provide the Hampshire Outdoor Service.... safely and effectively utilising the power of the Outdoors as a medium for teaching and learning.

The service is made up of four long established and highly regarded outdoor centres at Calshot Activities Centre, The Beaulieu Development Centre, Tile Barn Outdoor and Camping Centre and the Hampshire Mountain Centre (South Wales) - and works closely with the Southampton and Portsmouth outdoor centres and a number of charitable trusts across the county.
