Short term courses (Continuous Professional Development)

The Government has set targets for improving the quality of early education and childcare and they are:

• All staff should attend regular training to update their knowledge
• All foundation stage practitioners should attend four days training in the early years foundation stage of education each year.
  
  

In Hampshire we recognise that effective staff keep their knowledge and skills up to date through continuous professional development, CPD. It is much more than just going on courses and can include such activities as attending cluster group meetings, presenting information at staff meetings and shadowing or working alongside other professionals.

Our short term courses are also published termly in our Horizons publication.

Keeping a record of this continuous development is important for the individual, so they can refer back to and reflect on the activities. It is also important for the setting to provide evidence for accreditation and inspection.
