Early Years Foundation Stage courses
In 2007/8 we introduced the new Early Years Foundation Stage in time for September 2008 when it became mandatory.
From April 2011 onwards, we will be operating a 'no exceptions' policy with regard to non-attendance. If a place is booked on a course and that place is not taken up then the setting/learner will be liable for the charge of £50 with no exceptions. We insist on one weeks notice in order to issue the place to someone on the waiting list and have a charging policy for cancellations made with less than 7 days notice.
Bespoke/targeted training will continue in your local district. New courses will be available shortly and will reflect the pending EYFS recommendations/updates.

Transition toolkit
Please use this term to familiarise yourself with the transition toolkit, ‘All about transitions…’, from the Early Years Advisory Team. The toolkit includes a range of materials to support self evaluation and reflection upon different types of transition, including home to setting transitions, transitions within and between settings and transitions across the day.
The document ‘A guide to good practice in the Early Years Foundation Stage and beyond’ includes self evaluation materials (pages 17 -38) which complement the rest of the ‘All about transition…’series. They have been designed to support you in identifying the strategies you currently employ to ease transitions for children and in identifying strategies you could begin to implement or develop further. The materials cover a range of transition issues and are presented in a variety of forms, enabling you to select a format or section that most suits your needs, interests and priorities for development.
The Toolkit is being delivered through clusters and will be available on the website soon.
