Short term courses (Continuous Professional Development)

Training Subscription Reminder

2012/13 Training Subscriptions expire on 31 March 2013 and therefore need to be renewed for courses starting from April onwards.
We will accept bookings made before the end of March for Summer term courses using 2012/13 Sub numbers but you must ensure that you renew your Subscription two weeks before the actual training date. At the training itself the delegate should manually update their subscription number on the register when they sign in.

If, when we receive registers for Summer term courses, any delegates are listed with an out of date Subscription number they will be charged for the cost of their attendance on the course.

Following on from the success of the online Food Hygiene courses, several of the general training courses (such as L2 Health and Safety) will be delivered from mid May through an e-learning method. The changes are designed to bring more flexibility to training and cater for different learning styles. Please read the course information carefully before booking onto courses.

The Government has set targets for improving the quality of early education and childcare and they are:

  • All staff should attend regular training to update their professional knowledge

  • SfYC recommend that Early Years practitioners should attend four days training in the early years foundation stage each year.

  • Safeguarding must be updated every three years on stipulated in the 'working together' documents.

In Hampshire we recognise that effective staff keep their knowledge and skills up to date through continuous professional development, CPD. It is much more than just going on courses and can include such activities as attending cluster group meetings, presenting information at staff meetings and shadowing or working alongside other professionals.

Keeping a record of this continuous development is important for the individual, so they can refer back to and reflect on the activities. It is also important for the setting to provide evidence for accreditation and inspection.
