New for Childminders
Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB) Childminders Pack will be available from 9 October 2009.
The Food Standards Agency has developed a Childminders pack for registered childminders or childcarers on domestic premises, who provide meals and drinks for the children in their care and who now have to register with the local district council. The aim was to provide a simple and easy to use aid for childminders to enable them to show the food they prepare for children and babies is safe to eat. It provides relevant information through safe methods for basic good food hygiene, a diary section with a 3 monthly review and an Action sheet for simple record keeping.
In developing the pack the Food Standards Agency has worked with the National Childminding Association, local authorities and childminders themselves. Ofsted is aware of the development of this pack. The intention was to create a resource that was practical, easy to use and jargon free, but mainly to provide childminders with an effective aid to enable them to comply with the law but not overburden them with excessive record keeping.
