Phase 3 children's centres

More children's centres will be up and running in Hampshire by April 2010. This will ensure that every family with an under five year old will have access to a local centre.

Planning for the Phase 3 programme started in April 2008 and a consultation on the number of children’s centres to be developed and the notional catchment areas took place from May–July 2008. As a result of this, some adjustments were made to reflect feedback and local needs. It was agreed that the service delivery for 19 of the Phase 3 children’s centres would be tendered out to third party organisations with the remaining to be managed by Hampshire County Council. This tender process is now complete and the development of Phase 3 children’s centres is underway. Local stakeholder meetings have been taking place to identify potential Partnership Board members and to begin action planning for service delivery.

As part of the children's centre Phase 3 delivery strategy for the whole county, a capital programme of £9,643,872 has been developed to provide suitable accommodation for the newly formed centres within their notional catchment areas. Funding for this programme is being provided through the Government’s Sure Start Early Years and Childcare Grant.
