Financial support at 16

If you are 16 years old and are continuing your education and training, you may be eligible for the following financial support below.

  • 16 - 19 Bursary Fund provides support to young people to help you stay in education and training after 16. You can apply to your school, college or training provider.

  • Schools, colleges and training providers have bursary funds to help you if you’re studying or starting a course and face financial hardship.

  • The HOIRST grant is available for students that have been in the care of Hampshire County Council. Young people can get a grant of up to £500.  Contact your support worker for more information

  • Care to Learn can help you with childcare costs.

  • The Prince’s Trust offers Development Awards of up to £180 to help young people enter education, training or work. This could help you pay for tools or equipment you might need for a job or qualification (eg. Hairdressing kit or chef’s knives), course fees, books etc…
