Projects and groups

New Forest Youth Advisory Group
This is a new group and its members act as Youth Advisors for the Local Children’s Partnership (LCP) and for organisations wishing to develop their services for young people. The aim of the group is to represent the views of young people across the New Forest. This is the chance for young people to have a say in what and how services are being provided for them.
Some of the activities that the group participate in include advising on the commissioning of services and assessing the quality of services already being provided. They provide a young person’s viewpoint of all aspects of delivery of services to young people. Group members attend regular group meetings (at least on meeting every 2 months), make organised visits to local youth groups and representing the group at commissioning panels, LCP meetings, youth conferences and other events.
Through volunteering to be members of the group young people are able to gain valuable experience in a variety of areas including how organisations and committees work, group work, quality assurance, giving feedback on youth provision, plus everyday experiences of being part of a group, attending meetings, voting and responsibility to the group and its members. This will be a valuable addition to their skill set and something they will be able to take forward as they move to further education and/or employment.
Any young person aged 13-21 years from the New Forest wishing to express an interest in becoming a member of the group, should contact the New Forest Youth Support Services team. If you have any questions or information to share with the group please also contact the New Forest Youth Support Services team. Tel: 023 8087 7960, Email: youth.newforest@hants.gov.uk
