Adoption in Hampshire

Adopting from Overseas

The British Government allows inter-country adoption for humanitarian reasons. If you wish to adopt a child from any country overseas, you will still need to be approved as an adopter. This applies whether you want to adopt a family member or non family member.

Adoption from overseas can be expensive and can also take several years. It can also be very complex.

If you live in Hampshire (excluding Southampton and Portsmouth) and you wish to adopt a child from overseas, your preparation and assessment is undertaken by a voluntary organisation called Parents and Children Together (PACT).

For further information please visit PACT online, or call 0800 731 1845 (From outside the UK call +44 800 731 1845).
