My child was adopted
Tracing my child
If your child was adopted, and you wish to try and contact the adopted person now they are adult, we can provide support and will be able to check our registers to see if the adopted person has made enquiries themselves.
Under new regulations called ‘intermediary services’ we can help you make contact with your relative and to see if it is their wish to have contact as well.
You may also want to leave a change of address with us so that we have up to date information if the adopted person makes contact.
Post-adoption contact
You could be contacting us because for some reason the contact arrangements that were set up at the time of the adoption have changed, this is something that we can look into on your behalf.
Hampshire run a number of groups and workshops that may be of interest.
The Adoption Contact Register
The Adoption Contact Register is a national register run by the General Register Office (GRO) where adopted people and birth relatives can register their wish to be contacted by the other party.
There is a fee for registering which is currently £30
It is also possible to register a wish for non contact.
