The Care Council

The Care Council are a group of young people in the care of Hampshire County Council. As part of the Care Matters agenda, participation is a key component to youth engagement in Hampshire. It is also an opportunity for County Councillors to interact with children and young people by acting as 'Corporate Parents' - that is listening to key issues that matter most to children and young people and helping to make change a reality.

Hampshire County Council will:

  • It is good to meet up with people who are in care;
  • You can say your views;
  • And give ideas and suggestions about things to change;
  • You get to talk about your feelings;
  • When you are at the meetings you are safe;
  • It is something to look forward to and feel included in Care Council.
  • Make sure that the Care Council can meet every month;
  • Provide transport wherever you live in Hampshire so that as many of you can come as possible.
  • Develop a Care Council website and chat forum so you can keep in touch with each other and have your say - even if you live outside Hampshire;
  • Support you to make a Youth Opportunities Fund bid, so you can do more Care Council activities.
