Family Link Scheme providing respite foster care

Some children live with their own families full time, but have regular breaks with an approved foster family under the Family Link Scheme.

This scheme links children with disabilities to a foster family so that everyone becomes familiar with each other and the child has the chance to enjoy the company and join in the activities of another family on a regular basis.

This provides a lot of pleasure for all those involved in the scheme, including the foster family. It also gives families who are caring for children with a disability a chance for a regular break to enjoy activities which might not be possible for their disabled child to enjoy or fully participate in.

For other children who require more intensive support, there are three respite residential units in Hampshire.  Ask your Social Worker for more information - access to these services will depend on an assessment.
