Safeguarding Children in Education

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is a shared responsibility. However Schools and other Educational settings play a unique role by nature of the contact that they have with children and young people on a daily basis.

Safeguarding arrangements need to include:

  • taking all reasonable measures to ensure that risks of harm to children’s welfare are minimised and
  • taking appropriate actions to address child welfare concerns, working to agreed local policies and procedures in full partnership with other local agencies

This website is for education staff & governors and provides advice and guidance on the arrangements required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in school. Extra information may be available to HCC schools and education settings on the intranet, including audit findings. If you cannot find what you are looking for please contact the Safeguarding Unit on 01962 876364.
