Special Needs Information Day

Saturday 24 April 2010 at The Connaught School, Tongham Road, Aldershot GU12 4AS.

Another successful event was held by the Parent Partnership Service and Contact a Family in Aldershot in April 2010. The exhibition hall was packed with exhibitors from the voluntary and statutory sectors, who were kept busy throughout the day, with plenty of parents, carers and professionals visiting their stands. Alongside the exhibition, a series of workshops and information talks were held on the following topics:

• Building your child’s resilience against bullying
• Clear Action Planning for Everyone
• Diet and Behaviour
• Dyslexia – supporting your child from pre-school to adult
• Growing Up with Asperger Syndrome
• Music therapy
• Parent Voice
• Social Stories
• Understanding children’s behaviour

For the third year, the VIP Mobile Crèche Service were at the event all day, funded by Parent Partnership Service, offering their professional and friendly childcare service so that parents and carers could enjoy the day while their children were being looked after and entertained.

The venue was ideal for the event, with ample free parking and plenty of room for the exhibition stands, workshops and refreshments. The children were amused and entertained by Mr Giant with his wonderful balloon making and circus skills.
