Special Needs Information Day
Saturday 24 March 2012 at The Petersfield School, Petersfield
Contact a Family and Hampshire Parent Partnership Service are holding a Special Needs Information Day on Saturday 24 March 2012 at The Petersfield School, Petersfield.
We have been holding these free events for many years, giving families and practitioners the opportunity to gather information about support and services available across the county.
Visitors can come along at any time between 10am and 3pm to browse the exhibits, and to chat to representatives from voluntary organisations and statutory services about a wide range of special needs and related issues.
Alongside the exhibition, a series of workshops and information talks will be on offer, and visitors will be able to pre-book their free places on the sessions of their choice. Parents and carers will be given priority but if spaces are available, then school staff and other professionals are welcome to attend.
This year's event will include workshops and talks about the following topics:
- Board Maker (picture stories)
- Dyslexia
- Good sleep strategies
- Information for carers
- Information for parent support groups
- Rhythmic movement training
- Sensory processing difficulties associated with ASD and ADHD
- Speech language and communication needs - an introduction
- Understanding young people's behaviour
- Wills and Trusts
We are also very pleased to announce that Luke Dicker and his mother, Jan Greenman, will be giving their talk "Luke's life with labels". Luke has Aspergers and ADHD, and is a youth patron for Ambitious About Autism.
