Consultation on Hampshire County Council's Accessibility Strategy and Special Educational Needs (SEN) Policy
Schools and other interested stakeholders are invited to comment on Hampshire County Council's draft Accessibility Strategy and SEN Policy.
Local Authorities are required, by law, to produce an Accessibility Strategy for the schools for which they are responsible, focusing on increasing access, for disabled pupils, to the curriculum, to the physical environment of schools and to information. Hampshire has also included access to participation in the life of the school. Local Authorities are also required to publish a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Policy which sets out the principles, aims and objectives by which they will support the needs of children with SEN and Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LDD).
Schools and other interested stakeholders must be consulted on the proposed documents and are invited to comment on them. In line with the County Council's compact on formal consultation, those consulted had until 18 August 2008 to respond.
The consultation has now ended and the responses will be carefully analysed to inform the final Accessibility Strategy 2009 - 2012 and SEN Policy 2009 - 2012. The publications were published in March 2009.
