Short breaks service statement

Purpose of statement:

We are required to publish a short breaks service statement  Download Adobe Reader to view this PDF 2MB to provide information about what our short breaks programme offers. The statement covers the whole range of short breaks, from daytime activities like playschemes to more targeted support accessed via social work teams, including overnight short breaks. The statement is intended to help parents and carers of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, to find out what is available to them in Hampshire and how to access services.

How has this short breaks service statement been prepared?

We have worked very closely with Hampshire parents and carers to produce this short breaks service statement.

In 2012, a task group was set up to review and rewrite the 2011 short breaks service statement. This group consisted of representatives from the County Council as well as parent and carer representatives from Parent Voice and Hampshire Parent/Carer Network. The majority of text has been written by parents and carers to ensure the right tone and style, and to ensure it included all of the information that parents and carers need to know. The statement  Download Adobe Reader to view this PDF 2MB was published in December 2012, and has recently been updated for 2014-15.
