Short Breaks Funding

Short Breaks Funding

For some children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs, additional support, training or resources may be needed. This could be because of the higher costs to run a specialist scheme; or funding to enable a mainstream activity provider to include the child/young person.

There are different types of grants available, please read the information below and contact the Short breaks team if you need any advice.

Hampshire County Council is soon to introduce an online application system which will replace the forms below, please come back here for more information about how to apply for all future grants, as the way to apply will be changing in the future.

There are different types of grants available – please read the detailed guidance notes before you apply.

3. Support for individuals funding - to support individuals to participate in mainstream activities (under £5,000)

Support for individuals funding has been made available to help out-of-school activity providers meet individual children’s requirements. This funding is to help towards the additional costs that settings may have in order to fully and successfully include children and young people with disabilities and/or additional needs. Examples might include support that enables a child to join a sports lesson at a leisure centre, or their local Brownies/Cub Scouts.

Please note, if you are a childcare provider (e.g. a childminder or nursery), please also discuss the individual child/young person's needs with your local Area Inclusion Co-ordinator who can also advise about appropriate support and funding. More information about this service can be found at www3.hants.gov.uk/childrens-services/childcare/parents/parents-sen/area-inco or phone 01962 847070 to find out contact details for your local Area Inclusion Co-ordinator.
