Wessex Youth Offending Team

Working for Us

Wessex YOT’s staff are all employed by one or the other partner agencies. This arrangement is intended to help ensure that, during their time spent working in the YOT, professional practitioners, in particular build on their existing skills as social workers, probation officers, nurses, teaches, youth workers, police officers, etc. Most practitioners have permanent employee status with one of the partner agencies, and are released for a period of secondment to the YOT.

Youth Justice Services require a high level of skilled face-to-face contact with young offenders, their families, their victims and those who have to pass sentence in our courts. Our staff are our greatest asset and the partnership is committed to further improvements in its arrangements for the induction, training, supervision and appraisal of the staff who work in the YOT. The team achieved the Investors in People Award in July 2004 and we have received reaccreditation in July 2007, and the partnership is committed to further improvements in its arrangements for the induction, training, supervision and appraisal for the staff who work in the YOT.

All HCC opportunities are advertised externally in the local press and can be accessed on http://www3.hants.gov.uk/jobs

All non-HCC posts are advertised by the appropriate employer route, e.g. police officer positions are advertised via Hampshire Constabulary.
