Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE)

Meeting dates and documents for Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education.

The law requires Religious Education to be taught in schools, but RE is not part of the National Curriculum. Instead Local Authorities have a duty to set up Standing Advisory Council’s on Religious Education, which are designed to oversee RE and collective worship. SACRE advises the Authority on matters connected to religious worship in schools and advises the Authority on its statutory duty to review its agreed syllabus every five years.
