What We Do

What we do

Press Office

The Press Office Team is responsible for proactively managing the authority's relationship with the media, providing news and information on all County Council activities and decisions.

The team prepare and issue press releases and statements on behalf of executive members and departments ensuring the Council's news is effectively targeted. They provide professional advice on media-handling issues, prepare communication strategies for key initiatives and organise interviews, photocalls and press conferences. In addition, they ensure communication with the media is kept within the law. The team monitors daily press coverage, alerting members and departments to stories running in the media. It also provides a daily national and local press cuttings service.

In the first instance all calls from the media are directed to the Press Office Team and all County Council press releases are issued by the press team.

The team produces a range of communications tools and corporate publications including Hampshire Now, our residents magazine sent out regularly to over 500,000 Hampshire households, and the internal staff newsletter The Hog, as well as managing a range of communications campaigns promoting areas such as services for older people and housing in Hampshire.

The team maintains a range of corporate guidance, including the corporate identity, for staff and external suppliers.

Market Research

Research is a vital element in tailoring services to the needs of the Hampshire residents. Not only does it enable the Council to identify its priorities, but it is also a vital element in helping with communications planning and marketing activity.

The Market Research Manager is responsible for co-ordinating and managing the Council's corporate market research programmes, providing professional advice on research options and a focal point for all research activity.
