JCT Activities

In the previous Junior Community Team the group completed 10 sessions. These included an environmental visual audits, a litter pick, a sponsored walk, a Christmas card session with the elderly, and an Anti-Social Behaviour Workshop and much more. The group were also rewarded for their hard work with a trip to the Hampshire Mountain Centre in Brecon Beacons, South Wales. The children took part in caving and adventurous walks over the weekend and throroughly enjoyed the time away. The children were also awarded prizes and certificates, at a presentation evening, to thank them for their commitment and effort throughout the JCT sessions.

Other examples of sessions which are held for JCT members include a football tournament, running a bingo session for the elderly, car washing for the community and gardening projects in their school and local area.

Environmental Audits

The Junior Community Team were shown by the ACSO's how to record and report environmental problems, such as fly tipping, graffiti and vandalism. This will allow the children to report environmental problems outside of the Junior Community Team sessions.

Litter Pick

The Junior Community Team took part in a litter pick around their school grounds and local vicinity, approximately 10 black bags full of rubbish were collected.

 

Anti-Social Behaviour Workshop

The Junior Community Team took part in a workshop on Anti-Social Behaviour. The childrern were taught what anti-social behaviour is and the effect it can have on the victim, the offender and the local community. The children especially enjoyed the quiz at the end of the session.

 

Football Tournament

The Junior Community Team took part in a Police/Portsmouth Football Club run football tournament held at the Wellington Sports Ground, Eastleigh. The team were given free t-shirts and other goodies and thoroughly enjoyed the day out.

 

Christmas Card Making

The Junior Community Team took part in a Christmas card making session with the residents at Swan Court Sheltered Accomodation. The residents helped the children make the cards which they then gave to family and friends.

 

Sponsored Walk

The Junior Community Team took part in a sponsored walk to raise money for their trip to the Hampshire Mountain Centre in South Wales. The children walked 8 miles around Gosport, starting and finishing at Stokes Bay Sailing Club. The children found the walk tiring but raised a fantastic £400 towards the trip. This money was used to transport the children to Wales.
