Video
You can watch video clips on many Internet sites.
This can range from movies and TV programmes in full to short films, music videos, educational clips and films made for fun.
There are simple programmes that you can use to share video clips yourself, these can be filmed on a video camera, web cam or even a mobile phone.
The most well known site is YouTube, which is now part of Google.
What is YouTube
YouTube is a free online video streaming service that allows anyone to view and share videos that have been uploaded by YouTube members.
You can watch video clips on a wide range of topics, such as news, music, film, hobbies and fun. If you become a YouTube member, you can upload your own videos so that your friends can watch them.
YouTube's members rate videos that they like and appropriate highly-rated and recent videos are shown as featured videos, so you can see the things other people are finding popular.
Each video is 'tagged' with words to describe what it is about, so you can easily search, for example:
- videos of your favourite singer/band
- fun clips of animals
- film trailer and television programs
- and much much more.

What can you do there?
Not only can you watch and upload videos you can also:
- comment on videos
- watch video channels.
Remember, you do not need to give YouTube your credit or debit card details because the site is free.

How do you search?
There is a search bar at the top of every page so that you are always able to search for other videos.
You enter you search criteria in the search bar and hit enter

The page will then display your results.

If you don't see what your looking for then you might need to refine your key words in the search bar or try the advanced option
Channels

In addition to individuals who publish videos, there are also channels where you can watch sponsored videos, these are free, there are links to some 'paid for' content.

YouTube account
To comment on any of YouTube’s videos or to use the community section you have to have a YouTube account.
There is a signing up section which will only ask for some very basic information for example your e-mail address, your postcode and date of birth.
YouTube will not ask for your debit or credit card details because the use of YouTube is free.

Google Videos
Google Video is a free video sharing website which allows you to watch and upload video clips.
Google Video contains millions of videos indexed and available for viewing. Using Google Video, you can search for and watch an ever-growing collection of:
- TV shows
- movie clips
- music videos
- documentaries
- personal productions
- and more from all over the Web.

Go to Google Video* and either browse the top videos or search for a topic, you will see most of the results in YouTube format (this is because YouTube is now owned by Google - find out more about YouTube).
