Changes to Older Person’s bus passes from 1 April 2015
From 1 April 2015, Hampshire older person’s bus passes (those with a blue stripe) will be valid for free travel from 9.30am to 11pm on Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and public holidays.
The current weekday extension from 9am will no longer apply. A consultation was carried out last year to examine what was most important to Hampshire residents as the County Council has to save up to £1.5million from the public and community transport budget this year as a result of Government cutting its general grant to Hampshire by almost half.
The enhancement to the national concessionary fares scheme that Hampshire used to provide now falls into line with the national scheme. The exception to this will be the few rural routes where the next bus is after 10:30am, so these bus pass holders will still be able to use their free travel from 9:00am. There will be no change to the existing Hampshire scheme in respect of passes for disabled people (those with an orange stripe).
Hampshire disabled person’s bus passes (those with an orange stripe) are unchanged.
Bus passes or travel vouchers with an expiry date of March 2015 will be AUTOMATICALLY renewed before the expiry date. If you have moved since the issue of your current bus pass please call 0300 555 1376* to update your details.
