Planning for the Future: The Hampshire Countryside Access Plan
Hampshire’s Rights of Way Improvement Plan - ROWIP
Hampshire County Council has been working with residents and landowners to find out what people think about local rights of way and other access to the countryside and what should be done to improve them.
The result is The Hampshire Countryside Access Plan, which consists of 7 local area plans and a countywide ‘Overview’ document. Each local plan identifies the main issues in a particular part of Hampshire and suggests what should be done to improve access to the countryside in that area. The County Overview looks at factors that affect the whole of Hampshire and the main priorities for overcoming them.
These documents together represent Hampshire’s Rights of Way Improvement Plan. This is a statutory requirement under the Countryside & Rights of Way Act 2000; it is also a welcome opportunity to review the countryside access network and decide what Hampshire County Council – and others – should do to improve it.
